The 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a full-size pickup truck that offers a variety of cab/cargo-bed configurations, that are available in both 2 and 4 wheel drive. Cab sizes offered are regular cab, extended cab and crew cab. The regular and extended cab body styles offer the choice of a 6.5 foot standard bed, or an 8-foot long bed. The crew cab body style is only availalbe in the five-foot-eight short bed. The Silverado is available in 5 trim levels - Work Truck, LS, LT, XFE, and LTZ - that vary depending on cab size.
There are four engines offered on the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, including three v8s. Standard is a 4.3L V6 that provides 195 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. LS model buyers can upgrade to a 4.8L V8 with 302 horsepower and 305 pound-feet, or a 5.3L v8 with 315 hp and 417 pound-feet of torque. The largest and most powerful engine, which is available as an option on select models, is a 6.2-liter V8 that produces 403 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque. There is also a choice of rear or 4WD on the 2012 Silverado 1500.
